30-11-2018 Antillen Princess Beatrix visiting the Washington Slagbaai National Park on the 2nd day of the 3 day visit to the island Bonaire.
She visits the island at the invitation of the National Parks Bonaire Foundation (STINAPA Bonaire), a non-governmental organization that is responsible for the management of the national parks on Bonaire.
STINAPA is a member of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), of which Princess Beatrix is patroness.
The park of 5,643 hectares offers a safe environment for native protected species of Bonaire such as parrots, flamingos, parakeets and iguanas. In addition, the beaches are an important breeding ground for the four types of sea turtles living in the Caribbean.
